This DVD contains an entire version of the Prayer Yoga class that you can follow along at home or gathered with friends. There is a menu wherein you may easily select any pose performed in the class for extended study, or if you'd like to simply select the breathing/body meditation. Included for your reference is a poster containing still photos of all the stretches . There is also a menu selection to hear from class participants telling of their experiences with the prayer, attesting to its many benefits.

The class is recommended for anyone, any age, with the suggestion that you listen to your own body and refrain from doing any pose that may feel too much for your current physical ability. If you have particular physical limitations, talk to your doctor before attempting this, or any physical regimen.

With continued practice the poses get easier, and once you are made familiar with the prayer and are able to engage with less thought, the deeper your prayer experience may become.

This is a special invitation to surrender, listen, enjoy and give the glory to God!

Theresa of Avila described the restless mind in the restless body as one of the great enemies in prayer. The stretching and breathing exercises of hatha yoga can make a positive contribution to one’s ability to pray by unloading tension and stress from the body and focusing the mind. In the classical tradition, yoga itself is not a religion but a spiritual practice that can be worked with selectivity like software in the hardware of one’s own faith understanding. This DVD is a case in point.”

~ Fr. Thomas Ryan, author of Prayer of Heart and Body, and the DVD Yoga Prayer

Cynthia Marble shows here how she has incorporated her embodied practice of Yoga asanas into her own Christian prayer and understanding of God. Hers is an example to be admired, so that we can bring all of our beings to our spiritual life, as Saint Paul teaches ‘offering our bodies as a spiritual sacrifice’ and through that being ‘transformed by the renewal of our minds.’”

~ Fr. Cyprian Consiglio, Prior, New Camaldoli Hermitage and author of Prayer in the Cave of the Heart: The Universal Call to Contemplation.
